Andrew at top of the polls in Manchester Twitter Report

TwitterAndrew has come top of the poll for the Manchester Twitter Report in the politics category. This was due to Andrews high engagement score which showed he tweeted regularly and interacted well with his Twitter followers.

The Manchester Twitter Report is the first comprehensive study of official Manchester Twitter accounts, using unique algorithm to judge official accounts on three factors – engagement, popularity and involvement within the Twitter community. The Manchester Twitter Report was shared courtesy of marketing agency theEword.

Andrew started his Twitter account last July so he could keep in touch with people as he went about his duties in parliament, as an important way to use all the new forms of communication in order to keep in touch. One of the benefits of Twitter is that it can be very interactive and allow people to have multiple conversations with lots of different people.

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“I’m certainly very pleased to have been named as Manchester’s top Political Tweeter. I think the key to Twitter is to actually engage with people, and not just to put 140 characters in a message that no one will be interested in.”

“I have really enjoyed being on Twitter this past year and I always take the time to let people know what I have been doing. It’s also been very eventful as I have found myself in the national newspapers a few times thorough my Tweets!”

“I’d also like to thank my 1,874 followers, and hope to attract many more in the coming year. If you want to join in, then my Tweet address is http://twitter.com/GwynneMP
