A New Primary School for Dukinfield

Both Globe Lane and Clarendon Fields Schools closed last year and the transition to Ravensfield will be completed later this year with the opening of their brand new school building currently under construction in Dukinfield. Headteacher Bev Allford was keen to show Dukinfield’s MP, Andrew Gwynne, some of the progress the new staff have made in transforming the life chances of local children.
Andrew Gwynne MP said: “I was extremely impressed with Ravensfield School which has started under difficult circumstances, bringing two schools with different standards together. I was particularly impressed with the behaviour of the children and their keenness to learn, especially the children who had fallen below the national standards for literacy and numeracy at their old schools, but who are now exceeding all their targets for their age group.” “It was also nice to be questioned by the school council on a whole range of political subjects, and to see the Power Point presentation one class had made about the history of Parliament and the role of an MP. It was also good to see the school choir and the gymnastics class taking place.”“These are exciting times for Ravensfield, who will be moving into their new state-of-the-art school building later this year. I wish them well and look forward to seeing them at their new home soon.”
