Andrew Gwynne, the Labour MP for Denton and Reddish, is calling on all MPs to become Geared for Giving and sign up to the Workplace Giving scheme, and help spread the message around the country.

All MPs currently have access to the most tax effective way to give although few actually currently donate to charity in this way.  All MP’s are higher rate tax payers so by giving to charity through their pay they are giving 40% more.

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“I am delighted to be a part of the Geared for Giving Scheme. Workplace Giving is a simple, efficient and flexible scheme, which allows you to donate to any UK registered charity of your choice by a direct deduction from your wage.”

“All donations given in this way are tax effective so the charity receives your donation and the tax you would have paid on this amount. I want businesses in Denton and Reddish to actively promote workplace giving to help their staff grasp the benefits of giving in this way.”

MP’s from around the UK will be helping spread the message of the Geared for Giving Campaign by working to tell businesses in their constituencies about the benefits of the scheme.
