Andrew has congratulated students on the day A-Level results have been announced, but notes that the current coalition government has made it harder than ever for young people to get into employment. Andrew Gwynne MP said: “I would like to extend my congratulations to all the students who got the grades they wanted, and wish them all the best for the rest of the summer and the future.” “It goes without saying that this is one of the worst times to be 18 years old.
Andrew has come top of the poll for the Manchester Twitter Report in the politics category. This was due to Andrews high engagement score which showed he tweeted regularly and interacted well with his Twitter followers. The Manchester Twitter Report is the first comprehensive study of official Manchester Twitter accounts, using unique algorithm to judge official accounts on three factors – engagement, popularity and involvement within the Twitter community. The Manchester Twitter Report was shared courtesy of marketing agency theEword. Andrew started his Twitter account last July so he could keep in touch with people as...

Those 30 years at the top made him the longest serving council leader in the country.” “His achievement in transforming the borough from sleepy backwater into one of the leading metropolitan districts is a testament to his drive and vision to make the borough a leading council. The campaign will see every MP receive a personalised guide to ovarian cancer, outlining simple steps they can take during their time in Parliament to help save up to 400 women's lives. This represents the number of women who could be saved if only we were able to match average survival rates in Europe. In the guide, examples are given as to how MPs might support some of these steps, either in their own constituency or at a national level. The six simple steps are to: 1. ensure...

In Tameside the schools that had their funding scrapped were St Thomas More, Audenshaw, All Saints, Copley, West Hill, Fairfield and Longdendale. In Stockport it effectively ends the chances of Reddish Vale Technology College and St Anne’s RC High School in Heaton Chapel getting any Building Schools for the Future money. It has been a bad month for us here in Stockport and the hits just keep on coming. Last month we had our police budget slashed, eye watering cuts were announced last week to our local government services and Stockport Station refurbishment has been put on ice permanently. In the speech Andrew outlined how Tameside would be heavily effected by the cuts, as the borough is ranked as the 56th most deprived local authority area in England. Andrew also outlined that the cuts could well impact more harshly on less affluent areas of Stockport, such as Reddish. The Liberal Democrat Stockport Council does not do anything like enough for its most deprived communities, including the Reddish...

The commission has published a report which finds Tameside NHS Foundation Trust has made the necessary improvements to staffing levels and to the co-ordination of staffing rosters it had identified.
Andrew has secured a debate in Parliament next week to discuss planned policing funding cuts in Denton and Reddish. Recently the new Tory Liberal Democrat government announced that it was cutting £7 million in policing revenue for Greater Manchester Police. The previous funding arrangement had already been agreed in the last Parliament, and this substantial cut will amount to a reduction in grant of around two per cent of Greater Manchester Police budgets. It is widely thought that this cut will have an impact of local policing teams here in Denton and Reddish. Andrew...
