Success with A-level grades

A Levels

Andrew has congratulated students on the day A-Level results have been announced, but notes that the current coalition government has made it harder than ever for young people to get into employment.

Andrew Gwynne MP said:

“I would like to extend my congratulations to all the students who got the grades they wanted, and wish them all the best for the rest of the summer and the future.”

“It goes without saying that this is one of the worst times to be 18 years old. Jobs are thin on the ground, the public sector is in retreat and there are eye-wateringly high levels of youth unemployment. Through no fault of their own, many young people will begin their working lives on the dole queue.”

“But the actions of the current government have done nothing but exacerbate the problem. They have cut 10,000 extra University places, The Future Jobs Fund and the jobs guarantee. George Osborne has kicked away the step ladder of opportunity with a causal disregard for the human cost. The Government is balancing the budget on the backs of young people.”
